i usually don't post things about myself, but i just had to share this, because i will never forget how painful this was!
the thing is, that you can't really tell how gross this was |
i had surgery the first part of march. it was a breeze! but 5 weeks later, the top of my head started itching really bad. i thought that it was just because i had been out in the sun. but after a few days, i started getting these blistery like things on my forehead. i have never had shingles before, but i remember when grandma ruth had them and how painful they were for her. i called and got into dr mike. and sure enough, shingles were invading my head. i was crawling with the crud! (apparently, because i have had the chicken pox, these little nasty things were in my body just waiting for something like surgery or something to wake them up). doc asked me if i had any pain meds. i told him i had some from my surgery earlier. he asked me what strength they were, and i told him 5 mgs. he said "that is NOT going to help you. you are going to need something stronger". little did i know how bad they were going to get, before they got better. they had started creeping towards near my eye and doc was worried about them getting into my eye and gave me some strong steroids to go along with the pain pills. by far... the shingles were 100% more painful than the surgery i had earlier in the month. i am not quite to the age where they recommend the shingles vaccine, but all i know is that i will get it as soon as i can, because i never want to have to go thru that pain again. so if you are of the age that is recommended for the shingles vaccine, i would recommend highly for you to see your doc! (especially if you have had the chicken pox ever in your life, because these little critters are in there, just waiting for an excuse to cause you the worse pain you'll ever have!)
